This is an early M60. Notice the .50 caliber machine gun sitting on a pintle hanging off the side of the cupola. This was only done on the first 300 tanks as the M85 machine gun, which goes inside the cupola, was not ready yet. |

The tracks are not a good way to tell them apart, since different versions of the M48 used both track types the M60 used. The tracks in the picture you linked are T97; the later model that looks like an elongated octagon are T142. Later versions of the M48 also used T142 tracks, since they remained in service alongside the M60A1. |
