This looks very odd. I would immediately have said post war Bentley, except that the radiator does not appear to have the correct number of shutters in each half, unless you can count better than I can.

Early Mark VI ten shutters in each half.
Late Mark VI after B163DZ and early R-Type 9 shutters in each half.
Late R-Type after B210TN Centre bar and 9 shutters in each half.

I think it might just be a Jaguar.

I'd guess an Italian designer (OK - it's an Italian film so no great surprise) for somebody like Figoni and Flashy who did big whooshy shapes but often without getting the proportions right (looks like a very narrow cabin/windscreen and huge wings with silly little headlights - a UK designer would have got the mighty Joe Lucas to make some bigger lights).

Franay did a swoopy Bentley but the lights are wrong for this to be it Link to "www.coachbuild.com"

If you look closely at the picture the mountings for a set of Lucas P100s or similar are to be seen in the angle between the radiator grille uprights and the front wings. The lights that are fitted are just auxiliaries, and I still think it's a Jaguar. It doesn't look like a Phoney and Flashy (Figoni and Falaschi) body to me, the windscreen is too upright.

I think so too - at first I didn't notice the headlight mountings; compare /vehicle_537222-Jaguar-31-2-Litre-MkIV-1948.html . The inside auxiliary lights are standard Lucas 7" spots, the outside pair might be adapted as indicators?

I'm happy to follow the Jag 3½ Litre gang, but not with a standard body. Even allowing for distorted view, those wings ain't natural - the poor mechanic is probably standing on a stool to get over them - so I'm hanging in there for something whooshy coachbuilt.

I'm not entirely convinced it's a Bentley. How about this 1936 Alvis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MHV_Alvis_Speed_25_1936_01.jpg .

I think it looks slightly weird, because I think the headlamps have been taken off. Obviously the car is in the shop for an overhaul. Not impossible that the radiator was also due to be taken off. Having said that, I don't think it is a Bentley either. Jaguar I'd say.

The wing shape is very like the pic in the link I posted above - whooshy and with the longitudinal crease with sidelights at the top.

Jaguar grille for sure. Mk IV based on headlight location, sidelight location and creases on front fenders.
