It was held at the Buffalo Stadium (demolished in 1955), in Montrouge, a suburb 2 miles south of Paris. Most of the big cars belonged to Belgian guys who came all the way from Belgium using the highway. After the races (and obviously lots of fun), they left the wrecks in the pits and went back to Belgium driving the surviving cars.
