There was an unrelated manufacturer in Spain called Avia.

Czech Avia was also well known producer of aeroplanes.

Antp, Wickey - I believe, but just look at this (not the title but in text). :D

yop T-700 is the except from the rule  - newest model of Tatra :) and also some 613 wre actually badged like T613 on the car, but the older ones are without T.. same with Avia. Generally czechoslovak cars are sometimes confusing (Skoda-Liaz vs Liaz etc..)

wickey SK

2006-09-18 18:56

also when you check www.tatraportal.sk - there are used both varietes - "Tatra 603" and also "T603" in text but never "Tatra T603"

BTW I believe we should differ the both Avias - I mean leave the spanish one as "Avia" and rebrand the czechoslovak as "Avia (czech)" or something like that.. todays condition is a bit confusing I believe..

We already have quite a few identical brand names.
- Adams
- Eagle
- Liaz / LiAZ
- Marmon
- Star
- Triumph

For the moment the 'origin' flags help ... in most cases ;)

In the long term it would be nice to see them listed separately.

That of identical Brand names but in different Countries was for me a charming and interasting topic to study:

seen similitude but differences:

--Puma(1):1964 est.-DKW and VW-powered sport cars(BR)
--Puma(2):1971 est.-VW powered buggies(I)

--Eagle(1):1980-AMC Concord with 4WD
--Eagle(2):1981est.?-kit-car maker(GB)
--Eagle(3):1986-undermarket Dodges Brand(USA)

--LiAZ(1):Russian-made buses Firm in Likino(acronym stood for Likinovskij Avtobusije Zavod)(RUS)
--LIAZ(2):1974-name added at former Skoda trucks(acronym stood for LIbereckè Automobilòve Zavody)(ex-CS)

--Star(1):'20s est.-small cars maker(GB)
--Star(2):'40s est.-name of Polish-made trucks,made by FSS(Fabryka Samòchòdòw Starachòwice=by that word,Star)(PL)

--Triumph(1):1887est.-bike maker(GB)
--Triumph(2):'20s est.-car maker(GB)

That happens also with model names;saw in that examples who had a priority on a car name:

--Cresta(1):1956,Vauxhall(saloon)
--Cresta(2):1980,Toyota (saloon)

--Montego(1):'60s,Mercury (saloon/coupè/sw)

--Bravo(1):'80s,Mitsubishi(MPV)
--Bravo(2):1995,Fiat(saloon hatchback)

--Brava(1):Fiat,1979(saloon car-131 Mk2 name for USA)
--Brava(2):Vauxhall,1991(pick-up-Isuzu-based)
--Brava(3):Fiat,1995(saloon car)

--Capri(1):1952?,Lincoln(convertible)
--Capri(2):1958,Garelli(scooter)(I)
--Capri(3):1964,Ford(UK)(coupè)
--Capri(4):1969,Ford(UK/D)(coupè)
--Capri(5):1972,Mercury(coupè)
--Capri(6):1989,Mercury(roadster)

--Tuareg(1):1973,Moto Zodiaco(sand-bike)(I)
--Tuareg(2):'80s,Aprilia(enduro)

--Corsa(1):1964,Chevy(coupè of Corvair range)
--Corsa(2):1978,Toyota(Japanese market sporty Tercel)
--Corsa(3):1982,Opel(small saloon hatchback)

--Strada(1):1979,Fiat(saloon hatchback--Ritmo name for UK and USA)
--Strada(2):1997,Fiat(BR)(Palio-based pick-up)

--Toledo(1):1970,Triumph(saloon car)
--Toledo(2):1991,Seat(saloon car)

Accurate name of factory was FSC - Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych (ciężarówka - truck).
