No banana vent (as I think, looking on the 1st thumbnail), so a 1968-1970 1300 or 1500. The yellow colour is not original, the bumper after the restoration neither (by the missing black stripe in the middle identifyable as repro-shit from Brazil). |

@ingo: Try using /vehicle_282362-Volkswagen-Super-Beetle-Typ-1-1971.html for comparision with 1st thumbnail. The vent with chrome and the higher rear window show it's a MY1972 only. (The reference is also a 1972- with four vent rows) Front lid 1973+ but it's not original. |

I wasn't indeed sure about the banana vent. So if it's later one and the yellow colour is the original "sonnengelb" -quite probable before the restoration- we have a 1973 or 1974 MY here. I'm not sure, when "sonnengelb" entered the colour range for the Typ1. For the K 70 for MY 1974, except the special model with the black stripes. There sonnengelb appeared in May 1973. |

The number plates series ended afaik 1972. Could therefore be an early 1973 but then the banana vents should have been all black. These are with chrome from 1971-72. A better view of the engine lid could have given a clue. Then again even the wiper arms are painted yellow, so it's hard to tell... Still putting my money on MY1972, though. ![]() |

Hmmm... but a MY 1972 would have been "texasyellow"... Otherwise your're correct: the yellow colour was at least partly overpainted already before. Soo also the sealings of the taillights. |

![]() So 1972 would be correct. |
