That vehicle is a BRDM-2, but I've never seen one with that sort of top! |

the top was at the end torn off by jumping KITT, so that is for sure made for movie ![]() |

It tries to look like a GAZ 41-08 BRDM-2, but it is a complete fake. |

I wonder, how did they obtain Soviet army equipment for TV shows & movies during the Cold War? Also, why are you calling it a GAZ, Alex? |

Well, they didn't! That's why I called it a fake. It is a mock up made in some Hollywood backyard workshop. The original BRDM-2 was made by GAZ. 'BRDM-2' is just a military name used by the Soviet Army meaning reconnaissance vehicle. |

I've read some articles about the creation and testing of Hummer, and for Hellfire rocket launcher test thy used Russian BRDM-look like mock ups to target and destroy ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-09-27 12:20:01 |

I would dispute the "complete fake" judgement made just on the basis that this is "soviet army equipment ... during the Cold War" - vehicles built in Eastern Europe were occasionally available to the west, most as "spoils of war" (from countries like Israel, Vietnam and so on). |

Real BRDM-2s have slightly more contoured edges at the front, and the side steps sit between the two bodyside creases than below it. Definitely a mock-up, but a good one. -Kurt |
