Ah!!! That ol' LTD Country Squire brings back some REALLY WONDERFUL memories for me!!! My family had a fully loaded 1972 Country Squire with a 400 Cleveland V8 that my parents bought new shortly after I was born, We lived in Maryland and we moved out to Oregon in the Summer of '79, That LTD Country Squire could sure eat up the interstate!!! I learned to drive in that car and when I got my license, My parents let me use it to drive to and from school as well as go on dates and vacations with my buddies or my girlfriend, One awesome feature about the LTD Country Squire that I really like that no other full-size American station wagon has is the dual facing rear seats, I think Ford REALLY hit a GRAND-SLAM HOME RUN with that idea!!! People could ride in the cargo area or "Way-Back" as we call it and face each other and have conversations or play hand or board game, This LTD Country Squire looks like it has the optional vinyl roof which ours didn't, Ours did have the full wheel covers and the luggage rack as well as the front passenger door outside rear view mirror, which back then was not really a universal feature on most cars like it is today. |
