Sonata(named with an Italian word as an homage of Korean Make at Italian style),luxury midsize car,launched in 1988(in Italy arrives in 1989),belongs at 1st generation Hyundais(still Mitsubishi-patterned);final style was layouted by Giugiaro,already author of other Hyundai bodies,like Pony/Excel(1974-1994),Stellar--the car that Sonata replaces--(1983)S-Coupè(1989),Lantra/Elantra(1990),etc.;restyled in 1993,was renamed on export markets,the 2nd series(like that in photo),Sonica(like the ones sold in Italy,imported since 1995),but at home it remains Sonata still as previous series. |
