Yes, K70. Model year 1970. First front wheel drive Volkswagen... ![]() |

The Volkswagen K70 was NOT a great car. Actually it was a ocean going Turkey. A lemon of the size of Brazil. |

Wasn't it based on the Ro 80, but with a normal Otto cycle engine? They didn't last long after the Passat came into production. |

@Richard Davies: No, it was just developed by the same team partly during the same time. There are only a very few little parts identical between RO 80 and K 70 (the biggest ones are the hubcaps). To be correct, you have to say, that the Passat isn't the successor of the K 70. The Passat (in fact and by the technic just an Audi 80 Fastback) was the successor of the VW 1600 [Typ31]. So for us K 70-freaks the direct line continued in 2002. With the Phaeton. ![]() |

Huh, listed wrong since 6 1/2 years: it's a 1971 MY, not 1972 (old bumpers) |

I thought you did not like the Phaeton? |

It's of course not my favourite, and I wouldn't like to have as an all-day-clunker, because maintenance and repairs are f*cking expensive due the obstructed and kinky construction. And it's F.Piechs beloved and pampered child - and I dislike Mr.Piech, as it's one of the most unsympatic guys ever. I'm really happy to own a Piech-and Porsche-influence-free VW. My comment is viewing the class, one step above the Passat. -- Last edit: 2013-01-30 19:48:35 |

Don't lough. I've heard, that even changing a bulb from the headlight of a Phaeton costs a lot of money and can be only made by a VW-garage. |

You are quite right, ingo. My sister has the third generation Nissan Altima and she asked me to replace the headlight bulb on her car. There is no such how to replace the bulb of the headlight in her owner manual. I suggested her to take this to the authorized Nissan dealer to have it serviced. ![]() |

How much had she paid for that? |
