From the Advance-Design truck line (1947-55). Weird truck. What follows is based on the data given for this truck in the website mentioned above: • as RK 4400 type, it's indeed a 1948 model, and its sales name was then Loadmaster, not 4400 (the number names appeared during the 1949 model year). The single line shape on the hood side could indeed be the one of a 1947-49½ hood side logo, and same idea about the body-color grille (although possibly over-painted during the 56- or 57-year life of the truck). • but the history part of the website says also that "Der Chevrolet wurde am 29. Juli 1948 [...] importiert" (The Chevrolet was imported on 29th July 1948). Which would make it a 1949 model year, confirmed (unless really different specs in export models) by the 1949+ fuel filler pipe behind the cab... One thing is sure: to obtain that kind of truck, it was necessarily sold as chassis-cab. So even as Loadmaster RK 4400, Chevrolet gave it a 4403 internal code. (Set with Loadmaster as name because of the Chevrolet 1948 year code -RK 4400- which leads to follow the 1947-49½ naming nomenclature) |
