It has 10 spoke wheels which mean it is probably a GM product. Most likely a 1930 Buick Series 40 I think. http://www.boldride.com/ride/1930/buick-sports-roadster -- Last edit: 2013-02-06 22:01:55 |

Looks a little long to be a 118 inch wheelbase Series 40. I'm leaning more towards the 132 inch Series 60. |

So you agree with my presumption that it is a '30 Buick and not a Chrysler? |

nzcarnerd, Thanks it does appear to be a Buick at first but the side cowl vent on the car you linked to has the vent closer to the hood. Whereas the vent on this car is clearly in the middle of the cowl side. So I would have to say it is a 1930 Chrysler, but not a series 72 like pilou says, I believe this is the lesser model series 66. The series 72 had what appear to be teardrop hood vents on the hood sides and this one has your basic louvered hood sides. So to me it looks like it's a 1930 Chrysler series 66 Sport Roadster. Thanks! |

I am still not convinced one way or the other yet. I had though that Chrysler did not use 10 spoke wheels but from looking at a few pics they seem to have used them used 10 spokes on some models in 1929 - like this 1929 75 owned by Amelia Earhart - http://www.allpar.com/history/celebrities.html . Somehow the scale of the 1929 Chrysler 75 does not look the same as our mystery pic. The 1930 Buick - http://forums.aaca.org/f165/1930-buick-roadster-find-325248.html - and the 1929 Chrysler 75 are remarkably similar. Re the tear drop vents - they were used for half of the year for both the 75 and the 77. -- Last edit: 2013-02-08 01:05:47 |

Not 100% sure it's a Buick, but it's definitely not a Chrysler; 1928 or 1930 model. Note how on the Chryslers the bodies roll down (undertumblehome?)to meet the rocker panels. Whereas on the car in question (and on Buicks) there is a slight overhang (note the shadow above). -- Last edit: 2013-02-10 18:46:31 |

Having looked at nzcarnerds link to Amelia Earhardts car I would have to say that this is the same car! 1929 Chrysler series 75. Thanks! |
