Thinking 1981+ 244 GLE/GLT -- Last edit: 2013-02-06 20:03:38 |

Because of the mirrors (round, small and black) and the rectangular head lamps, I'd say it's at least a 1979 (only) 244/245 GL. The writings in the grill MIGHT suggests it's a 244/245 GLE, which is the only model (of this year and type) I know of that had lettering in the grill http://schmidt-gemert.nl/_files/foto/81/thb3_244GLE80-1.jpg . I'm sorry that the link shows a 1980 model, but the 1979 is the same apart from the mirrors (when looking at the front)... -- Last edit: 2013-02-06 21:25:48 |

Is that an Allegro on the left, behind the Fiesta? |

Looking down Gardner St from Partickhill to Partick, west Glasgow. The road at the bottom is Dumbarton Rd. I live 5 blocks to the left of this position on a corner with Byres Rd, though moved here 8 years too late for the film date. Slightly further down the hill in another film - /vehicle_539436-MINI-Cooper-R56-2007.html . As for the Volvo, as far as I know (which is very little on Volvo detail), in UK only GLE (Oct 78+) and GLT (Mar 80+) had grille lettering. I think I can see headlamp wash/wipe but not tints. -- Last edit: 2013-02-07 04:07:41 |

Looks like really a nice place, isn't it? |

It's much less blurred now. On a clear day, you can see America. |

Not Russia? Someone had said, you can see Russia from the home location ![]() |

P.S. Is it an Allegro? |

Yes - a chocolate brown early Allegro, low-mid spec. |

My memory sometimes betrayes me, as the GLT as well as the GLE had a badge in the grill Link to "rejsa.nu" . However, GLT was introduced in 1980 (as dsl said earlier...) which means the car above MIGHT be a GLE. Might, because there can be a number of other badges that can be showed on the grill, e.g. AA, RAC, RSAC... |
