A loud bang, and it went dark. It didn't go out with a firey Hollywood explosion. I'm fine, I was just a bit shocked. I'm on my phone now. -- Last edit: 2013-02-15 23:11:08 |

Yeah, I had that happen to me before when my monitor just suddenly died out for no apparent reason. |

Oh, I didn’t know. Some CRTs have been known to do that. |

several flats have high-performance transistors for background ilumination beeing still by valves red green blue beeing sensitive to current fluctuation, to dismiss with sizzling sound and bad smell. anyway have some of them coming back after cooling down, or use with other PC, while CRT is stable To repair FET is adventure, easier to buy second hand one. -- Last edit: 2013-02-17 05:54:17 |

If you have a modern-style home contents insurance, they pay the new screen. The old-style insurances pay just all other things (if the scren would have set it on fire). A serious tipp from the expert: avoid always the stand-by"-modus! It costs energy, the risk of getting a damage by a thunderbolt is bigger and -not ignorable- the danger of fire is bigger. I already had a plenty of total losses of household and whole houses, caused by electric devices. |
