Very rare in Italy, especially by 2008. I will take a look on the web if it's a known example.

Maybe in a better version the plate could be readable. @humungus or @Terra, not sure if you want to upgrade this movie

Plate looks to be RM226***, first two digits either 5 or 6, last one should be a letter, although it looks like another 5/6 or 8. Can't be 'S' because it would be a later issue, while no combination seems to work with a 'G'.

Anyway, the plate looks a little weird, in addition to the presumably missing letter, it maybe looks too wide on the right side where the province code is written: it looks damaged, or maybe modified with a fake Roma code to hide the real plate?

In December 1983 the Italian magazine Quattroruote tested a Prelude with a plate beginning with 226, but the province code is CH (Chieti): https://www.quattroruote.it/prove/premium/2023/Honda-Prelude-1983.html since Bux_48 said that the car is extremely rare in Italy, I'm wondering if it could be the same, or at least one of the same batch of press cars

Or maybe it could be this one, and what I wrote above is pure coincidence:

RM22666G
Telaio: 114291
Motore: ET
Prima immatricolazione: 01/08/1984

EDIT: confirmed, as the one tested by Quattroruote returns a very similar result, and ET is the 1.8 engine which seems the only one available in Italy:

CH226007
Telaio: 005951
Motore: ET
Prima immatricolazione: 14/06/1983

@Bux_48: was it an official import in Italy?

Yes, it was officially sold here, since late 1983, and only as 1.8 EX. Quattroruote car has a CH plate because at the time Honda of Italy was located in Chieti, where they also built (and still build) scooters. The Italian branch was then moved to Verona in early 90s.

I believe the plate is just a bit worn, but I think it was just a coincidence that both started with 226, and that you found it :king: because RM22666G was de-registered 19/12/2008, so just after the film :( it's not marked as scrapped, exported or stolen, so it could have been dismembered for spare parts, given the rarity of the car, but I have no concrete evidence to say that for certain. Anyway nice job! :sun:

Thank you! :) Didn't know about the scooter plant in Italy, by the way. This should explain the popularity of the Honda SH in Italy then
