PS. Shouldn't we change all ca pre-1970 Meharis to "Dyane 6 Mehari"? |

Because there are reasons to this in form of the period factory literature. ![]() |

I deleted my post to repost it more completely but in the meantime you replied ![]() So instead of just "why" I wanted to ask "why pre-1970 only", since I found references to that name later. Also if the full name was not systematically used at that time (i.e. wasn't the shorter version of the name already used), this just makes vehicles listing on the site less intuitive... -- Last edit: 2013-02-26 17:00:00 |

OK. Well hence I wrote ca/about 1970, possible that later it was also still called this way - I can't know all documents. But "later" in this case means what? 1971/1972 or much later - end of decade for example? If second, then we indeed do not have to bother about any changes, as it means they used both names inconsistently. However by what I noted, till (ca!) 1970 it seems to be called mostly (only?) Dyane. This is visible in brochures - for example here: http://www.citrobe.org/mehfolders.htm Please note, that the ones from the 1960s are a separate brochures only of the "Dyane 6 Mehari" and those from the 70s were common brochures for "Dyane 6" (hatchback) AND "Mehari". -- Last edit: 2013-02-26 17:27:33 |

I saw some references from 1971 modems, but not from official docs. It is always annoying when they start to test something like that, first as a submodel then as a model on its own. Like Renault with the Scénic (though that there is follows the restylings, even if the name on official papers is different from the name used commercially...) -- Last edit: 2013-02-26 17:26:45 |

Might be fascinating sometimes though. ![]() Now I do not say, Mehari should be renamed, as I'm not yet sure of this for 100%, and some confirmation is still needed. -- Last edit: 2013-02-26 17:32:31 |
