On close inspection, this looks to be one of the 1979 to 1982 Comuta-Cars. The CitiCar was built from 1974 to 1977 by Bob Beaumont under the Sebring-Vanguard company. Frank Flower purchased everything but the name in 1978 and built his Comuta-Car from 1979 to 1982 in the same factory under the brand Comuter Vehicles INC. or CVI. This confuses a lot of people but the big difference is the Battery placement. In CitiCar's you sit on the batteries. In the Comuta-Car, the batteries are in boxes behind the front and back bumpers giving it an extended look. On this car while the front bumper is missing you can clearly see the cut up for the battery box in the center. Today we refer to all these EV's under the general term C-Car's. You can read more about these C-Cars at: http://rci.rutgers.edu/~crisitel/EV/C-Cars%20and%20the%20Tropica.pdf Hope this is of help to you. |

It's true, it look like bigger bumpers, so this had to be the 1st Comuta-Car listed on this site. IMO better to use CVI as brand. |
