I think we have this same Duesenberg in another movie /vehicle_52141-Duesenberg-SJ-La-Grande-1932.html -- Last edit: 2006-10-04 13:33:07 |

The car in Sunset (a Blake Edwards dud that opened on a Friday in our town and closed two days later) is a 1929 Duesenberg Derham Phaeton, J-116, 2136. Same car as used in the Elvis Presley movie Spinout 20 years earlier. The wheels were changed from the painted red ones to the chrome ones in the meantime. I know this to be true as I am the one who rented the car to the production company who were making Sunset and my father rented the car to MGM for Spinout. I still have a copy of the movie review for Sunset from the San Francisco Chronicle. The headline was "Only the Cars Shine in Sunset." -- Last edit: 2017-12-08 02:14:17 |
