Pitty they have not pay more attentions to the licenseplates. Golf is imported. Both cars have the new EU-licenseplates, wich not came earlier than 2000. |

AFAIK the first MY for Europe was 1983. 1982 was still the previous generation. -- Last edit: 2013-03-13 21:07:32 |

Not for whole Europe? In which countries they were sold back then? ![]() In 1985, in Eindhoven/NL I've spotted my first Hyundai at all. It was the 1976+ version, with Dutch plates. So at least in NL they were sold before 1983. |

The Pony was certainly sold in the UK in 1983/4, as a friend of mine bought second-hand an A-registered one. |

I mean first MY in ANY European country. And I'm not talking about the Hyundai marque, I'm talking about the facelifted Hyundai Pony... I think export began in mid-1982, making the first MY 1983. That's why I said 1983+ at first. |

O.k. - and when and where Hyundai started in Europe? |
◊ 2013-03-14 10:30 |
It began in 1978 - for Belgium and Holland. It was then followed by at least Greece, Spain and UK by 1982. By the mid-1990s, nearly every country had been covered. In Norway Hyundai and Kia did not appear until 1993. |

Wiki says, that 1991 was their first year in Germany. |

It seems that on this recording day they forgot to swap licence plates, which they did on the other occasions. |
