White indicators in the light strip were dropped for the 1996 model year...so no random years strikes again! |

A Google images search seems to show 1996 and 1997 Town cars with that same "light strip" (I assume you mean the lighter area in the center of the rear horizontal lamp panel between the 2 vertical chrome pieces). What is the source for your statement? |

^^Are you sure that didn't come in with the 1995 refresh? -- Last edit: 2013-04-03 17:45:43 |

Yes. To my knowledge, there was no exterior change between 1995-1997. Would welcome contrary info that could help individually identify these nice cars. |

Would you believe..... I was in our grocery store parking lot this morning and there were both 1996 and 1997 Lincoln Town cars parked near each other. Both had the same light area in the center of the rear lamp panel. HOWEVER, I did notice another difference. The '96 had a cover plate over the trunk lock with the Lincoln emblem on it while the '97 had an open keyhole with the Lincoln name under it. Did a quick Google image search on '96 and '97 Town Cars and this checked out across the board. That would make the subject car either a '95 or a '96. Has anyone else heard about this variance? Was it a running change? Did it apply to designer series cars? |

Note comparison of trunk emblems: http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/7514/mo23.jpg The '95/'96 keyhole is covered by a swing-away emblem while the 1997's is exposed. (The '97 photo is blurry but it reads "Lincoln" under the keyhole.) -- Last edit: 2013-08-29 18:28:08 |

Definitely 1995 as the new steering wheel was visible. -- Last edit: 2019-12-15 11:24:32 (walter) |
