The tachometer is made by Jaeger and has Maserati trident the hood has a non Maserati emblem "R" conclusion: prototype of private french racing team with Maserati engine checked all known Le Mans bolides of 1960 + 1961 The italian OSCA 750 for e. g. had a Maserati engine, and halfway that looks, but not that bulge due to big wheels -- Last edit: 2013-05-06 04:24:08 |

It's a strange shape with the mixture of old-school big wheels in such a short body which has to be lumpy to fit everything in. My best guess for proportions is Maserati Tipo 60 or Tipo 61, but I can't find one for exact match. |

yeap, Tipo 60 birdcage was my first idea with 2 litre engine, 16 built with "R" on hood "made for movie" homage to Ronet, i guess. -- Last edit: 2013-05-06 04:36:47 |

Maserati Tipo 200 SI is also not too far away: http://www.maserati-alfieri.co.uk/alfieri190.htm |

I looked at 200Si and 250Si but all the photos I found look too long - the shape is very similar but before they decided to shorten everything. |

Tipo 200 SI has same 4 cyl engine, and litle signet on hood! beeing predecessor, new features of birdcage, beeing shortened tubular chassis with tank filler in left wing |

My first thought was also that it would be some kind of prototype based on a Maserati, but what I found quite remarkable is that it is a LHD car |

Yes, this is remarkable. In only found a 450 S build as LHD. But too many details are different from the car displayed above. Link to "andoniscars.blogspot.ch" -- Last edit: 2013-05-07 09:08:22 |

If I had to guess, that's an A6GCS Maserati underneath the bodywork... http://ww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2008/04/27/82904/Maserati.JPG |

Yes, Maserati, I think. And no, 'R' is here for 'Rochereau', Philippe Rochereau (Maurice Ronet)'s brand. We have here the Maserati so many of you detected, with some make up to make it pass as a Rochereau racing car. ![]() ![]() |

While looking at this car I independently came to conclusion that it likely is a special rebody built upon a Maserati A6GCS - then found this thread with Google. LHD, wheels, seats and filler location were my strongest clues, so I think this should be listed as a Maserati A6GCS special/rebody. |
