Sure but if we start to put all bus body maker as make, we will get lots of them... I thought that usually the chassis make was used?

Let me tell you how we could manage for this "recurrent" question:

1st Case= Body maker having its own range, its own "catalog" of products with specific names, using for it several chassis , e.g Van Hool, Plaxton, Heuliez, (now adays), Chausson, etc... We assume he has to be listed as a Make.
For these brasilian buses, I'd say we draw the same figure, don't we?

2nd Case= Body maker is subcontracting a chassis maker, and provides buses for this chassis-maker range: e.g Chausson with Saviem SC1, Million Guiet Tubauto with Berliet PCP10, CIV, Heuliez with Citroen U23 etc,etc... in this case the body maker should be listed in the model name (or extra info though I've pb with this ;) )

3d Case= figure old time when there was no big series buses industry. Body maker is independant and build "a la demande" to honour direct contract with a final customer(transport companies), using for it the chassis choosen and bought by its customer... most of the time, these contracts goes for very few units : e.g. French Besset, RavistreMartel, Amiot, ... same fig.than 2nd = body maker name in the model name

I know that the limit between is not so obvious but we have to do with :)

I agree with that, except for Plaxton (well, old ones at least) : usually SteveA lists them under the bus make and not as Plaxton make.
For the Brazilian busses, I do not known. That's actually why I asked that...

I think Plaxton should be treated as french Heuliez is... own make for moderns, chassis/bus make for older

...case of Ciferal is the same (Scania chassis), and the make is not new on IMCDB

Busscar, Marcopolo, Ciferal, and the big brazilian bus body makers from today and past are more like the first case, some buses (if they gonna apear in some good movie (specially in a brazilian car-chase movie) :D) appear in 2nd case (Volare (actually Marcopolo/Agrale), Neobus-Iveco (the City Class model is, a Neobus Thunder with another front))

maybe you gonna put six or seven makes, but it's all :D

again, sorry about the poor english.

See ya! []'s
