(I think for the scene where the car explodes after being attacked by the helicopter a scrap shell was used, the explosion was shown from a distance)

 So the burnt car is a different one?

The colour looks lile texasyellow to me. Odd, that it's a basic version :think: I thought, for UK, resp. as RHD-versions Volkswagen had not offered poverty-spec trim lines. At the K 70, built at the time time, it was so.

Not necessarily - the 411 LE and then 412 LE sat above it as the glamour options. 1600 was hanging on for the poor people.

 No, I mean, that it's the basic version of the 1600, no "L", so no side trims and other jewellery. And then even with the more expensive injection-engine, so the "E". Despite the fact, that these combinations, basic trim line with bigger/stronger engines were very uncommon at VW back then -except in DK due tax reasons-, they even weren't offered in a plenty of export countries, especially not in the more elaborate (in fact cobbled) RHD-version :think:
