The Daewoo Espero was one of early Daewoos to be imported in Italy;first arrives in 1995,after a short apparition the year before at 1994 Bologna Motor Show(held in Dec.),together with Nexias(ex-Racer);originally,the body of that car was a styling(by Bertone's designers staff)that before to be given at Daewoo, was committed by Citroen as a possible body proposal(then rejected)for the Xantia;subsequently, was also proposed at Australian GM-Holden for realize a own midsize;Holden don't built that car,but the engine studied for that--a 2.0 litre--by GM technicians will ends into Daewoo hands, and full project was passed to that Make, giving life at Espero(the Espero was sold also in twin-fueled version, cared but by Italian Importer--Daewoo Automobili Italia--,not factory-built,with double fuel feeding,gasoline-LNG--same option was available also on smaller Nexia in Italy);however the Espero wasn't a successful car in Italy(here in my town circulates few ones),being only 1995-1997 circa sold PS Before Daewoo arrive(since 2005 sold as Chevrolet in Italy),the sole Korean Brands of cars were Hyundai(since 1981,started with Mitsubishi Colt-based Pony imported by KoMoCo,also former Subarus Importer at period)and Ssangyong(since 1990 in Italy, with Korando-Jeep as early imports),followed by Kia(initially imported only an Asia Motors vehicle since 1991,the pseudo-Jeep CJ called Rocsta--in that case Importer was the same of Ssangyongs,Oasis Italia 4X4--then,arrive the true Kias,by 1993--this time, strangely,'cause isn't a Brand tied with Mazda, imports were given at Subaru Automobili Italia Firm--;the model chosen by Kia for be known on our market was the first Kia car non-derivated by pre-existing Mazda ones, being the at-times-brand-new Sephia). |
