It's an import or, maybe more likely, a car brought here by NATO officers/American embassy employees, anyway great find |

I have tried to rebuild the VIN as it seems that the ones provided are the last 8 digits of a genuine Eagle VIN. Digits 1-3: 1. Country of origin: Japan --> J 2. Manufacturer (brand): Eagle --> E 3. Vehicle type: Passenger car --> 3 For the other digits there are multiple choices, but we can try to narrow them down by looking at the picture and analyzing the available data. According to this 1993 brochure, the 1993 Summit Wagon was available in three trim levels: base DL with black bumpers, LX with painted bumpers (with optional contrast colour), and a specific AWD trim. The car in the picture has painted bumpers (in what looks like Peacock Green paint), so we can rule out the DL trim. According to the little information available from the plate check, this is a 1.8L engine. The upmarket 2WD LX trim came with the 2.4L engine as standard, so we can deduce that this particular car is an AWD with the base 1.8L engine. By the way, this engine/trim combination was only available with the 5-speed manual gearbox. 4th digit indicates the restraint type. The 1993 Summit Wagon came with automatic seat belts as standard, and I cannot find any mention of airbags in the brochure. 4. Restraint type: Automatic Seat Belt --> C 5. Vehicle line: Summit Wagon AWD --> C 6th digit indicates the trim level, which as said should be the AWD. Looking at other Summit Wagon VINs, this should be considered the 'Premium' level. 6. Vehicle series: Premium --> 5 7. Body type: 4Dr Wagon --> 0 8. Engine type: 1.8L 16 Valve SOHC-MPI --> C 9th digit is a check digit and the only one we can't deduce. A letter 'X' can be used instead The other digits should be those provided by the plate check: P4013779. 10th digit 'P' means MY 1993, which looks appropriate. 11th digit, indicating the factory, should be a letter, but here we have a '4'. Since the Eagle Summit Wagon was built at the Okazaki plant, which is indicated by a 'Z', it's possible that it was misread when it was entered into the Italian database. So we can assume that this is as a 'Z' as in all other Summit Wagon VINs. Given serial number is 013779. So we can deduce that, unless I've made mistakes, the full VIN of this car is: JE3CC50CXPZ013779. Wow, great job! I can somewhat confirm it's an AWD because subscribed ACI app says it's an all-wheel drive and 1797cc, but strangely it gives no scrap/de-registration date. |
