Twin foglamps, rimbellishers, high position of front indicators, three piece rear screen suggests 1957/8 105S, but could also be later car with lamps added.

Didn't the 105S have the fancier wheel trims? I thought 75 or 90 Mk.II facelift, 1957+.

According to my source the full-wheel trims were not introduced until the 1962 95 and 110 models.

Glass's does not mention the wheel trims on P4, but does mention their arrival on the P5 for the Sept 61 Mk1A update, which may well transfer to the P4 as well. I can't identify this P4 model, but can date it to Sept 58 onwards when all versions got the rear number plate shroud, inset grille ribs and thicker central bar visible here. So this should be a 59-61 car.

I've done some research on P4 hubcaps/wheel trims, and it seems there were three types, of which this is the earliest.
There were also these: http://worldcarslist.com/photo/rover-p4-100/01/default.html and http://sco.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Rover_1110_side.jpg

So our choice is:
Sept 58 - July 59 - 60, 75, 90, 105 (without suffix letter - R automatic was discontinued at this point and S version became plain 105) OR
July 59 onwards (to Sept 61?) - 80, 100.

And, of course the owner could always have added after-market items, like the spotlights, or retro items like anachronistic wheel rimbellishers on what was by the time of the film, a 16 year old car. So unless someone has x-ray specs, and can read the number on the bonnet, it's a flying guess.

The Dordogne plate dates back to 1954, so is presumably fake. The spotlights are Lucas so could have been original equipment ... you're right: [:spamafote]

Let's fly. If I've understood everything correctly, 1959 105 would match??

I rewatched the important scenes with the Rover again. I found two frames, where the badge and script are slightly visible. There is no better view. Does this help?

Thanks for the effort, but I can't see anything specific enough to be sure. I think we're OK as 105 as best we can do.
