What confuses me most is that your link (which seems to be specifically about US market models) actually confirms the Sovereign was offered in the US market for these years "The 89 XJ6's equipment level was replaced by the Sovereign". This also cannot be an XJ6 as it has the rectangular lights which were only offered on the last US market XJ6s from 1993 with the different foglights.
