I know, if you watch closely you can see the front axle being torn off. A big heavy truck like this could smash through the concrete barrier, but it wouldn't survive the 20-30 foot drop. A lot of these movie chases are pretty far-fetched, in real life a car or truck couldn't land after a big drop and still be drivable.

This chase is my favourite bit in the movie, that truck was an excellent choice, it looks so menacing.

Neptune - Yes, but the filmmakers were careful to show the explosion was caused by a sparking battery cable igniting a ruptured fuel tank.

If you look closely when it lands it looks like one of the windows and the front axle had broken but when it started to chase John again the window isnt broken a lot and the front axle is repaired

Yeah, good attention to detail there, but diesel doesn't go up like that of course, it's not volatile enough.

Picautos, along with one of the comments posted earlier, say the Freightliner is a 1987 Freightliner FLA 9664.

It does when the truck is filled with with ultra-high-octane Hollywood brand atomic gasoline, though!

Freightliner FLT 9664. The cab has a wider split in between the front windows, one of the main identifying features of the White Freightliner WFT/Freightliner FLT series from the cabs inception to the switch to the FLA cab, which has the smaller split you see on most modern semi trucks these days.

In this picture of the Penske Racing Team trucks, from left to right, the first, second, and fourth trucks have the same windshield split as the Freightshaker in T-2. The third, however, has the smaller split which is, in reality, the only difference between the FLT and FLA series trucks.

The bumper is not a good identifying mark of a truck unless it's an older Kenworth. That style of bumper was pretty much one of the standard option when the cab was introduced back when Freightliner was partnered with White back in the '70s.

[Edit: Sorry about the size of the image, it was the only one I could find with a side-by-side of the two trucks.]

Four trucks were used in total during this chase scene. So here’s a rundown on which one appears in each segment:

Truck #1 is a Freightliner FLA 8664 - This truck only appears in the first part of the chase, right until John enters the flood drain. Note the large air intake design above the logo, and the logo’s proportions.

Truck #2 is also a Freightliner FLA 8664 - This truck is only used in a few shots. It has the same air intake as Truck 1, but the logo is much smaller than the other. This is the truck that crashes through the wall into the drain. It is also the same truck that hits the bridge at the end of the chase.

[Image: screenshot2023-04-12125106pm.jpg] [Image: screenshot2023-04-12125121pm.jpg] [Image: screenshot2023-04-12124318pm.jpg]

Truck #3 is a Freightliner FLT 9664? - This truck is notable for having a different air intake design, and for having the letters on the logo removed. (The logo is also of the smaller design like the one on Truck 2.) Its cab appears to be slightly longer than the rest of the trucks, but then again there’s not really any good views of it, meaning it might actually be an FLT 8664. It appears from the jump scene until it has its roof sliced off.

Truck #4 is the last truck. It’s a Freightliner FLT 8664 - This truck is identical to Truck 3, the only difference is that it’s missing its roof, and that its logo has text on it. It is used from when its roof is sliced off up until it hits the bridge.

Pre-1989 Freightliner FLA models never had 96-inch cabs available. The cab lengths maxed out at 86-inches. Freightliner FLT models on the other hand DID have 96-inch cabs available which is where I think this came from. FLA models would receive 96-inch cabs in 1989 when their cabs got redesigned. Freightliner FLA 096 would be their official name. So the Freightliner FLA 9664 isn’t really an actual model. Which is super funny considering all the merchandise and other products that use this as the official name.

So the truck in the main picture is actually a 1984 Freightliner FLA 8664.

The 1984 Freightliner FLT 8664 actually gets more screen time than the FLA, so should that be used instead with a new thumbnail? How should this be listed? Two different models were used during the chase. And the one in the thumbnail has less screen time than the other truck used.

Most likely another one, chrome parts not painted black, different small holes on the bumper, damage change...
