Is this the 4WD version? |

All Tercels sold in Australia were 4WD wagons. It was sold between 1983-1988 only, and was only available with a manual transmission and 1.5L carbureted engine. There was no point in offering a 2WD version, because being an imported model meant it was subject to a 57% import duty, meaning it could not in any way compete with the locally built Corolla on price. I believe that being a 4WD vehicle, it qualified for lower tariffs. It never sold in significant numbers, but it was mostly aimed at rural buyers (hence being offered as a manual-only 4WD). This one looks like SR5 trim due to the wheel covers and black B pillars. Base model "Deluxe" trims had painted pillars and no wheel covers. -- Last edit: 2023-09-26 21:54:43 |
