This is footage of Rodney King being beaten by LAPD officers. It plays during the opening montage of the film. -- Last edit: 2006-11-06 18:52:06 |

From a little internet research I've found out that the car Rodney King was speeding down the highway in was a 1988 Hyundai Excel. So this is the car that helped cause 6 days of rioting in LA. -- Last edit: 2006-11-06 18:45:48 |

Excel, which probably couldn't go 100 unless it was dropped out of a plane at 30000 feet |

Some reports claim the car was doing as much as 115 mph. |

Sorry about that… It’s just the thought of a Hyundai going 115 mph… |

I don't know, it could be possible. Especially if the governor was unhooked (assuming it had one). -- Last edit: 2006-11-06 19:58:45 |

I think that this car is supposed to be the same as the one in "Dark Blue": /vehicle_21437-Hyundai-Excel.html Or maybe it is just a coincidence. But if I remember well the movie started with an incident similar to that one... -- Last edit: 2006-11-06 23:25:58 |

According to a review of Dark Blue, that's also archive footage of the Rodney King incident: http://www.reelviews.net/movies/d/dark_blue.html |

What do you mean it's supposed to be the same car as one in a film made ten years after this one? I think you mean the car in Dark Blue is supposed to resemble this one. The car you see here is actually the car Rodney King drove when he was chased by the LAPD, since this is from footage of the real life incident. -- Last edit: 2006-11-06 23:50:09 |

I was meaning that it was supposed to be the same one in reality (i.e. the two cars "play" the same role), but not especially the same car actually used in the two movies. Though it is maybe the case, as Gag Halfrunt mentionned it. -- Last edit: 2006-11-06 23:52:11 |
