From what I can remember, Lisbon PSP (Polícia de Segurança Pública) forces had a few Brazilian-made Passats. Portuguese VW importer sold here a lot of VW Brasilias as well as a certain number of Beetles and Passats made in Brazil. In this case I would say it's a Passat LS (hatchback) that was introduced in late 1978. The advert was published in December 1978 and the leaflet is also a Portuguese edition. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() Any pics of front or back? The German Passat LS had squarish headlights and all early Passats aluminium-badges on the back (and the "PASSAT"-badge on the left) |

Although this was the shape of the Brazilian Passat between September 1974 and 1979 when it was restyled, one detail makes me think you may be right: the front doors' quarterlights don't seem to open (this feature is perceived on the blue car of the Portuguese brochure). In that case this may be, indeed, a German-made one that was used to mimic a real PSP car. |
