It's not a Polara it's a Dart - a 440 model I believe (that doesn't relate to the engine in this case).

was sent as a Dart, but a Polara was already listed on the site, I forgot to rename it.

Polara 500(note chrome vent like trim under rear 1/4 molding exclusive to Polara line, Dart vents weren't chrome)

Wrong, Firebird. It is a Dart 440, which did have the stainless fake vent trim. Polaras had a full length belt molding, which this car lacks. Polaras also had a stainless rectangular frame around the fake vents, with the part inside the frame and around the vents painted a contrasting color. They lacked in exchange the bright trim highlighting the bodyside protuberances, which are a clear Dart 440 feature. Please have a look at this webpage, that illustrates a Polara 500 I unfortunately don't own and note all the differences I just outlined:

The car in the movie is a Dart 440. Saturn Simon had it right in the first place.

Youre right Junkman, my bad. My Father recently sold a 1962 Dodge Polara 500 2dr hdtp w/ac and power windows,26k original miles, in triple black, guess I shoulda spent more time waxing it for him, I didnt mean to mislead...sorry........Firebird

Hey Junkman, my '62 Dart 440 h/top had the Polara chrome body trim. Called a 'Sportsweep'. In place of the rear guard chrome trim. Why anyone would intentionally order it escapes me, as it detracted from the lines, but there you go.

Every time I see this film I am amazed at how well that thing flew.. I'd love to see the outakes of that jump.. Alot of great driving/crashing is this classic comedy.

I don't know why Top Gear didn't find one and use it when they played darts with other cars. . .
