An RTS does appear in 'Speed' but this isn't it. It's a MAN SU240 with bodywork by Graf & Stift |

That's a strange bus! |

MAN bus re-worked by their Austrian daughter for airport use. It brings passengers to the planes, as many as possible. And because this bus is not used on "normal" roads, traffic law regulations limiting vehicle width can be ignored. So they just made an exta-wide-body bus and replaced some side doors by a large front one. Another classic airport widebody bus comes from Neoplan (old type/new type) - which also manufactured this strange vehicle. -- Last edit: 2006-08-28 02:23:35 |

Why 3 stars? No main character gets in it... ![]() |

No main character, but still important characters. This bus is used to exit all passengers from the bus that will explode, and the scene is long enough to justify the 3 stars I think. |

Now that I have rewatched the movie, I agree, it is rather 2 stars: it is not seen that much. I agree that it is a "Graf & Stift", as it is written on it, but could it be a ÖAF rather than a MAN? ... as it is written on the bus actually ![]() This bus is even funnier than what I thought: at the rear of the bus there is another front! ![]() |

Looks to me like a Neoplan N922-2. |

The ÖAF Vorfeldbus was built between 1978 and 2000, mainly for middle east- and USA-customers. The above shown one is a pre-1988 facelift version. ÖAF Modell "FLUGHAFEN-VORFELDBUS GS FH 240 M 14". Built with parts of a regular SR 240. |

I know what graco and antp said about this bus' role was said over a decade ago, but I disagree, this bus should have 3 stars. Sure none of the main characters gets into it, but it still plays a role substantial enough to have three stars, just like the '77 GMC General. In fact, despite not being shown as long as the GMC, this bus plays just as an important (if not, more important) role. |
