The movie tells the story of how ETA (spanish terrorist team that exist noawdays yet) prepared their first terrorist attack, they killed Luis Carrero Blanco, the Prime Minister of Spain in that moment, there was a dictatorship and the dictator was Franco, well the thing is that ETA wanted to kill the Prime Minister and they did it, they learned the route he used to do everyday, so they made a hole in a room of a building that was at the same level as the road and they put explosives underneath the pavement, when the car drove over it they activated the explosives launching the car in the air and causing it to go over a building to then end up in an interior courtyard of that building, unbelievable yes! but it happened and so you can see it in the screenshots ive taken, as you can see in the movie they did it with a model of the street "Claudio Coello" (very famous for spanish people because of what it happened in it) and model cars, this happened on December the 23rd of 1973, it was ETA´s first attack... if you want to know about more about this go to http://clientes.vianetworks.es/personal/angelberto/CarrBlanco.htm , you have to know spanish to read it, althought you dont know spanish if you want to know how it happened go to that web and watch the drawing of the "jump" the car did. That’s really cool CarChasesFanatic (well, not the terrorism part) but the history behind what happened is very cool and informative. |

◊ 2006-11-10 15:21 |
what is the difference between the spanish dart and the spanish 3700 GT ? |
◊ 2006-11-10 15:51 |
The (Spanish) Dart was the predecessor of this car and in essence a copy of the 1963-65 US Dodge Dart, built in Spain after production had ceased in the US. The 3700 GT replaced it in 1969 and though being based on the Dart, was developed and designed in Spain and has no US counterpart. -- Last edit: 2006-11-10 15:52:19 |

I am seriously interested in buying one of these. So if you ever find one for sale, please tell me instead of buying it for yourself |

1st: thanks for the exaplanation, now i know i have to say that the one i really like is this one, the 3700 GT 2nd: I'd buy this car too of course cause i just love it, but im afraid that my money only allows me to buy a 1:18 scale model one :D, yeah if i see one i would tell you why not |

On a 1977 Italian magazine article are visible trials of car jump scene into movie and in one photo was visible a man when put the Dodge model car over an explosive charge pack and in another--tragically grotesque--of another man that sweeps and clean the scaled-down road diorama passing thru 1:18 Seats,Renaults,Citroens, etc.,like a giant!!!... The former title,as article says, was"Comando Txikia"and the former director should be a certain Josè Luis Madrid, then changed in "Ogro",when the movie was given into hands of great Italian movie director Gillo Pontecorvo(awarded in 1966 at Venice Movie Festival with "Golden Lion"award for the movie titled"La battaglia di Algeri/The Battle of Alger" and died that year, unhappy) |

Not a Barreiros, just Dodge 3700GT, as Barreiros was out of the company when this car was launched and his named was no longer carried on the cars. |
◊ 2007-11-16 10:33 |
Actually i have always had my doubts since some of them in internet are not mentioned with the BArreiros name, but then who built it?? it is still a Spanish car that only existed here (and it had a brother in Argentina but had nothing to do with it did it?) and sold here, it was made by Barreiros no? if not then who build it? |
◊ 2007-11-16 10:48 |
When in 1969 Chrysler Europe took the control on Barreiros Diesel S.A., the company was renamed Chrysler España S.A. Chryseler received all the properties and actives of Barreiros Diesel S.A., including Villaverde's factory (Nowadays a PSA factory where 207's and C3 are built). So From 1970 to 1979, when all Chrysler cars were renamed Talbot, the cars were built by Chrysler España. |

But then, this car was still only Spanish wasnt it? it had a Barreiros engine and a look that was only sold here am i not right? |
◊ 2007-11-16 12:19 |
Yes, it's only spanish, as is an Spanish development using the argentinian Valiant as base. It uses the same "slant 6" petrol engines that were used on the Dart |
Gomselmash11 ◊ 2011-07-14 20:38 |
None Valiant use. The spanish used the body of the DODGE, with disgusting "restyled" (round headlights and bla bla) |

Thanks for the information I have also found some information about the assassination on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Carrero_Blanco and I have also found two movie scenes of the assassination the first one looks like crap because it's CGI but the second one is the one from this movie you can watch them here enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkj2hksOG4Y but the video is in Spanish so it is pretty hard to understand and here is a documentary about ETA and the assassination http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUhbXMUYTbM -- Last edit: 2011-10-26 18:18:26 (chicomarx) |
