RM664 was experimentally left unpainted between 1961 and 1965, and was known as the 'Silver Lady'.

Liverpool Corporation, London Transport, South Wales Transport and Edinburgh Corporation also took an interest in unpainted buses. Edinburgh Corporation took eleven unpainted lightweight Metro-Cammell Weymann 'Orion' bodied Leyland Titan PD2/20 buses (famously known locally as 'monstrous masses of shivering tin') between 1955 and 1957, though as with all other operators the unpainted finish was found to weather rather quickly.
