According to the Internet Movie Database, it's based on a Chevy Corvette. |

It should be illegal to do that to a Corvette, even a 1968 |

The "Cimbria SS" name came from http://www.javelinamx.com/CarStars/tvcar2.htm but I do not know how accurate is that info... |

The front, side vents and profile are definately corvette. The Cimbria SS has a completely different front. While many of the cars in this movie were VW based, I don't believe this is one of them. -- Last edit: 2012-02-01 03:55:37 |

This car is in the My Garage museum at Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, Illinois. It's a kit car, very downsized from a full-size Vette, and is powered by a flat 6 Corvair motor hidden down under the dummy engine that is visible. |

This is titled as a 1968 VW, and the Body is made out of a Corvette. For sale for $14K: Link to "volocars.com" |

Frankenstein's "Monster" was built from a Shala-Vette kit car, not a Chevrolet Corvette. All of the cars in Death Race 2000 were built by Dick Dean. The Shala-Vette and his more famous Shalako were both VW based street buggy type kits designed and produced by Dean. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Dean |

What happened to the car's original 5 star rating ? |

There is a decent replica of Frankenstien's (David Carradine) monster car in the Hollywood Car Museum AKA Liberace's Garage in Las Vegas, NV. It appears the teeth and spine ridges are more pronounced, and it isn't colour accurate. It does appear to be an original Dick Dean VW kit car. It's funny. We're way past 2000, and hit & run driving is still a crime. |

Looks ridiculous but really badass. I like it. |
