I see a little error on the car name. It's "Silvia" not "Silva". |
◊ 2006-12-08 02:30 |
... Uh, no. Have you actually looked at the front end shape, rear end shape, headlights, taillights, and basically every other part of Wingo? He's not a Silvia by any means. The rear end resembles an Acura RSX, and the front a mid-90's Civic EG coupe. |
SnotRodFanatic ◊ 2006-12-09 06:51 |
Uhh, in case YOU haven't forgot, not all cars have to look like the real life cars. It's because they're MODIFIED! Modified Cars are completely different. |

Take of the makeup and its a yugo ![]() |

Modifying an S-15 by converting it into a hatchback, giving it RSX / Civic looking tails, and very mid-90's Civic looking headlights, as well as completely retooling the body so it looks -nothing- like a Silvia? I -really- doubt it. Modified or not, I doubt this is a Silvia S15 with a total makeover so it doesn't even remotely resemble a Silvia anymore. I'm voting Civic / RSX hybrid. |

convince Wikipedia it's a Civic/RSX and i'll change it ![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Delinquent_Road_Hazards#Wingo -- Last edit: 2006-12-10 05:13:09 |

odd...i just read the wikipedia page again and in the beginning section they call it a Honda Civic, 240sx...then down below it's a Silvia. Wingo - A modified green and purple Honda Civic who is well known for his ladder of spoilers, which is where his name comes from. The fluorescent lighting on his hubcaps and underneath his body emits a green glow. His vinyl lights up. Wingo is a modified Nissan 240SX hatchback. He sports a ground effects kit and a ladder of spoilers or "wings", hence the name "Wingo". Model Nissan Silvia Gender Male Color Green/Purple/Yellow-Orange so i understand the 240sx and the Silvia since their similar cars...but since they mention a Civic...hmmm. OK...let the debate go on to what Wingo is ![]() (nope not the editor of wikipedia..i meant the name of this photo since i posted it) -- Last edit: 2006-12-10 05:27:31 |

Actually, that article is where most of the main debate stems from. I've posted photos of Wingo's front and rear that show he looks nothing like a Silvia, but no one seems willing to provide proof that he -is-. I've seen plenty of claims he is a Silvia, but where are you people getting this from? I'd seriously like to know. Furthermore, considering Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, and isn't exactly known for being right, I don't consider it to be a very good source :P |
◊ 2006-12-10 10:24 |
Yes, I know it's an animated movie, but so far no-one has been able to tell me -why- they're claiming he is a Silvia. Where are you people getting your proof? Don't say Wikipedia, because no one there has provided proof either. Nor has Disney's site for Cars. |

As T1g4h said, Wikipedia can be changed by anybody so it is not always a reliable source, especially for things like this one where there is no official and 100% sure answer. -- Last edit: 2006-12-10 11:24:16 |

What I found amusing, now that I think about it, is people on the Wikipedia article cite this as their source... and the uploader here cites Wikipedia as his source. Vicious circle! |

that's funny since they had the info first and that's where i took the name from ![]() here's a better front and back view: ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-12-10 15:45:44 |

The only rear end shot of Wingo I managed to find is currently down due to bandwidth issues, but here's the link in case it comes back up. The Wikipedia image shows the front decently, as does the image here at this site. And this is a decent side image, where you can see the very edge of the RSX-looking taillights I was talking about. EDIT: all are of the diecast, unfortunately. My DVD drive isn't cooperating so I can't do movie screenshots. -- Last edit: 2006-12-10 15:52:20 |

Kudos for the new image ![]() See, now that shows why i'm doubting Silvia S15. The back end is too squar,e and the taillights look like those from a mid 90's Civic Coupe. However, the body style in the rear is a hatchback, hence my guess at Civic / RSX hybrid ![]() |
◊ 2006-12-10 16:03 |
and this is the Civic you're saying (early 90's coupe - before they gave it a face lift):![]() but then it does look like it could be a cartoon version of: /vehicle_44207-Nissan-Silvia-S15.html |
◊ 2006-12-10 16:10 |
That is indeed the Civic. I'm looking mostly at the headlights, taillights, and general shape. Also, check out the hood. The Silvia's hood is curved much differently, due to the shape of the headlights on an S15. The Civic's hood matches Wingo's exactly almost, tho the headlights are a bit taller. Also, here's the rear end of of a Civic of that gen, compare the taillights: ![]() Yes those are aftermarket tails. Look at the shape ![]() |
◊ 2006-12-10 16:17 |
![]() There. That shows the stock taillights, and the general shape of the rear end, both of which match Wingo, IMHO. |

The white one isn't great, I know, but I'm partial to that red one. Tho I much prefer the EG hatch... A clean EG hatch can be a pretty nice looking car ![]() |

![]() the issue with the civic is that it's more round and bubblier. the Silvia is lower and wider with sharper edges. after looking at a bunch of 240sx/silvias, i still am leaning toward that...it's the lower wider look - not in road height, but in the ratio of the height of the hood from the bottom of the car to the width of the front. the civic is just taller, skinnier and rounder. -- Last edit: 2006-12-11 18:53:10 |
SnotRodFanatic ◊ 2006-12-12 02:06 |
I found more info about Wingo as a Silvia. I saw the rear view of the Wingo & a 2000 Silvia & they completely matached. The exausts are in the same place, the rear view lights are a bit shorter, but still in the same shape. Licence plates are in the same place, I don't know about the headlights, so thats all I know. |
◊ 2006-12-12 06:22 |
Exhaust placement can be changed ![]() Also, Wingo matches the exact rear view of the Civic. The Silvia S15's lights are rounder and teardrop shaped, and the whole back end is more curved. -- Last edit: 2006-12-12 06:22:55 |
◊ 2006-12-12 06:24 |
Look at the rear end of Wingo and the rear of the Civic though, they match perfectly. Wingo even has the same piece sticking out from the trunk that the Civic does, and the taillights match exactly. |

Bio from the official site: Also a member of the car gang, Wingo enjoys traveling in a tight caravan, where he can make quick maneuvers and show off his amazing handling (provided by the numerous spoilers mounted to his rear!) Bio from Wikipedia: Wingo is a modified 2000 Nissan Silvia S15. He sports a ground effects kit & a ladder of spoilers or "wings", hence the name "Wingo". He has a complex paint job of sparks & flames that are green on the front & turn to a yellowish-orange color on the back on a background of purple on the front & green on the rear. He is also seen having a tinted visor which he can raise & lower over his eyes at will as seen when he 1st appears in the film. On his side, the Japanese katakana read インポート (Inpōto), which means "Import". While some believe that he lightly parodies the import scene, others believe that he lampoons rice burners. Although all of the Road Hazard gang members have their own die-cast toy, Wingo & Snot Rod have received more credit than either Boost or DJ as they also had a Rip & Stick toy released. In the introduction scene of the gang, he is the last, with his exhaust tip, tail-lights, & spoiler ladder shown. Wingo is playable in the console computer game version of Cars with 4/5 Speed, 4/5 Acceleration, 5/5 Handling, & 2/5 Stability. In the mini-game "Sheriff's Hot Pursuit", Wingo & DJ are identified as Delinquents. He is licensed to a city named Spoilerville. |

Everyone saying Wingo is a Silvia S15 are plain out braindead or just blind. It is way too obvious that it is a Civic. Silvia fanboys were dropped on their head when they were born. Sad. |

I’m gonna say it’s a Civic with a VERY custom body kit, as that’s how things were done in the early 2000’s |

Actually, now that you mention it, AE111 Levin does make sense, the AE111 itself looks like a S15 Silvia. The rear end especially matches this car |

1996-2000 Honda Civic![]() If you just think about the design process, this should be pretty a obvious and unsurprising choice given that in 2005-06 when this movie was made, 6th gen Civics were THE go-to "tuner" car, that became very synonymous with people putting elaborate body kits, neon lights, giant wings, and huge single tip "fart can" mufflers on. These were very likely the inspiration for Wingo's design. S15 Silvias are still not legal to import into the US (where the movie takes place) to this day, never mind 15 years ago. -- Last edit: 2020-08-14 02:22:03 |
◊ 2020-08-14 02:33 |
could be.. but keep in mind that in cartoon's world, the law about importations doesn't really takes place ( Simpsons, American Dad , Family Guy are all cartoons set in US with cars not sold there popping out here and there without them leaving US ) i must say that Civic is somehow a tempting idea -- Last edit: 2020-08-14 02:37:03 |
