It is indeed a Packard of 1948 ( 22nd series) but a DeLuxe Eight four door sedan model 2211.The model 2202 ( and not 2272 as indicated , there was no 7 in the codes of 1948) was the Super Eight Club Sedan. Super Eights had additional rear bumper guards and the Pelikan hood mascot. |

Both the Standard 8 and the Deluxe 8 used this smaller hood ornament. (The Deluxe had chrome trim over the doors and larger wheel covers) The Super 8 and Super Deluxe 8 had the "Goddess of Speed" ornament (with the circular disc in front). The Custom 8 had the large bird with the uplifted wings. The photo'ed car appears to have the small hubcaps, simpler taillamps without the divider bar and no chrome over the doors so I would classify this as a Standard 8. -- Last edit: 2010-08-28 02:26:17 |
