A good example for the stubborn Russian license-plate-system. It's not possible to get plates in annother size than the 52 cm-length. It's the usual size in most Eurpean countries - but everywhere else you can get plates in other measures for US-cars, japanese re-imported cars and so on. Also the duble-lined ones for the VW Beetle is not available in Russia. Normally the basic of the Lada, the Fiat 124, had, like other Fiats from the 60ies and 70ies, originally these double-lined plates on the back. Three years ago, at our vacations in Moscow and St.Petersburg, I've seen plates, mounted on the strangest ways on cars, where the plates were too long for. -- Last edit: 2007-12-22 20:39:36 |

In Belgium it is the same for rear plate, since it is issued and made by an official institution. But as our plates are very narrow (nearly like US plates), they fit on all cars. Though that for US cars with a very narrow plate holder, the red border of the plate has to be folded a little. It is quite common on some of the few non-EU-ready cars that you can see here. -- Last edit: 2007-12-22 23:08:16 |
