Nice. Both the Hunter with this front and Sceptre launched Sept 67, though Hunter did not have any trim variants until Oct 70. |

Were there no trim levels on hunter until demise of minx , gazelle etc? |

No - just single trim until Oct 70 revamp, which brought everything apart from Sceptre into newly expanded Hunter grades. Minx became Hunter deluxe (including Estate), Hunter itself continued as Super (never had Estate version), Vogue (including Estate) became GL. No room for Minx deluxe and Gazelle, so these disappeared. New Hillman GT launched then as well - sporty version of poverty Minx/Hunter D/L trim with 88 bhp Rapier/Sceptre engine to piggy back on 1968 London-Sydney win, upgraded and renamed Oct 71 to become Hunter GT with Super-level interior trim. GLS launched March 72 as effectively Hunter GT with Rapier H120 110bhp engine and Sceptre grille; all other Hunters got mild facelift at same time with sculpted front grille. -- Last edit: 2011-11-06 17:21:49 |
