Also note rv mirror attached with a header bar. In '76, they were glued to the windshield. (Same is true with the Dodge Dart version.) |

Good knowledge. I wish there was a list where it listed 1st model yr for being glued to the windshield. How about when ignition switches moved from the dashboard to the steering wheel. Or when inside hood releases replaced outside only hood releases. |

Just off the top of my head, the earliest car I know of with a w/s glued rv mirror is the 1961 Ford Thunderbird. Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.org" Can anyone think of an earlier one? Can't answer your other inquiries on the steering column ignition switches and the inside hood release but I'm sure there are knowledgeable members here who can help. |

Thanks a lot Commander 57. Moving the ignition switch to the steering column was safety related decision, correct? Rear view mirror makes no difference. But inside hood releases was super logical keeping most expensive part of vehicle secure. |

Actually, moving the ignition switch to the steering column was done for security, to make tampering/car theft more difficult. -- Last edit: 2015-10-22 14:44:37 |
