Locally assembled? |

Local assembly, 1800 Mk2 or maybe Mk3 - UK Mk2 had over-riders but Mk3 did not. If Mk3 it raises possibility of 2200, but I don't know what 2200 availability was in Aus (we've had NZ comments that 1800 was local assembly there, but the small number of 2200s were UK sourced). Badge looks more like Mk2 format so my best guess is 68+ Austin 1800 Mk2 unless local knowledge suggests something different. |

It has plates issued in 1969. It is, if the plates are fake, a 1968+ Austin 1800 MkII and yes, it was built in Australia at Zetland, in the inner suburbs of Sydney. The Austin Kimberly, which had the 2.2L E-Series I-6 wasn't introduced until 1970. Also the rear lights are different on those. The E-Series 6 was stretched to 2.6L later and used in the Leyland P76 and also in the Marina as the Marina 6. -- Last edit: 2014-04-30 14:40:30 |
