It can't be a 244, they had circular lights when this example was made (1975-80). This is a 264, most likely the GL level trim as it looks exactly the same as this 264GL (except the colour). The plate with the letters 'AGF', if they aren't fake were issued in 1978. 264GL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Volvo_264_GL_1977.jpg 245DL: Link to "en.wikipedia.org" It is also assembled at the then Volvo assembly in Melbourne. -- Last edit: 2014-05-02 16:38:30 |

So "made for DDR" then? |

This car is painted in the colour introduced in 1977 when Volvo celebrated its 50th anniversary. But it was then only used on the 262 C Bertone. In 1978 this colour became the signature colour of the year, and the 1978 MY is also shown when looking on the black door mirrors. This is absolutely not made for DDR, but of the same European spec like the UK, and as such didn't used the straight four cylinder engine used in the 244 DLS but the V6 as of the 260-series. I can't see if it has a carburettor (264 GL) or fuel injection (264 GLE). That is: 1978 Volvo 264 GL(E?), of Swedish origin. |
