This scene was interesting as there is a huge continuity error between exterior and interior shots. When John Goodman is driving, the interior shows his right arm helping the French soldier, but from the exterior both his hands are on the wheel :-D |

1944. Currently for sale at € 16.666,-. That possibly explains why Mr. Goodman didn't need to have both his hands on the wheel, as mentioned by rberent back in 2014 - translation: "(...) then the vehicle was sold to the Babelsberg film studio and driven in John Goodman's film Monuments Man. Unfortunately, Mr. Goodman could not handle and operate a classic car. The film crew built a 2 liter Mercedes engine with automatic transmission into the vehicle so that everyone could operate this vehicle. There were 2 vehicles and one is still in the Filmpark Babelsberg. The engine is still installed and working. The Dodge always starts and is very easy to drive. The original engine and the original gearbox are available and will be included in the sale." In other words: People unlearn their acquired knowledge and adapt their environment to their reduced abilities... You certainly don't have to go all Jared Leto, but I'm pretty sure it is acceptable to learn how to handle certain movie props without ruining their historical value IMO. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
