Shouldn't this be listed as a Ford shelby GT-500? |

Ford along with "SVT" should be added to the name of the car. SVT’s emblem (the Cobra) is prominently displayed on the right of the grille, the sides of the car, the rear and interior as well. The letters SVT are also used in the interior. The car is listed on SVT’s main website. http://www.svt.ford.com/ -- Last edit: 2007-08-18 17:27:52 |

But where in the name do you put Ford? Isn't it supposed to be listed as "Shelby" make? (and what about the others also listed like that?) -- Last edit: 2007-08-18 18:33:39 |

In the case of this car, it is a joint venture between SVT and Shelby. The car is listed on both the SVT and Shelby websites and is sold by Ford and Shelby. Ford dealerships that were licensed to sell SVT vehicles can sell the car. Ford would come before Shelby. |

The name should read "2007 Ford Shelby GT-500 SVT" |

"Ford Shelby" as make, or "Shelby" as model? And what about all the other Ford listed under Shelby make? |

The model of the car is Officially: the GT-500. Unofficially the model is: the GT-500 Cobra (indicated by SVT’s Cobra Snake emblems) But I would list it as just GT-500 to prevent confusion. The Maker of the car is Ford, SVT (SVT is to Ford as M is to BMW) and Shelby together. This only applies to this car only, no other Fords or Shelbys -- Last edit: 2007-08-18 23:41:22 |

Why just this one? Also that one I guess: /vehicle_92002-Shelby-GT-500.html ? (UK plate registered as Ford, I do not know why it is listed as Shelby) And what about the older ones listed as "Shelby GT 500" ? -- Last edit: 2007-08-18 23:20:51 |

The older Classic Shelbys are fine like they are (No need to change them) The problem is long ago when Shelby modified Ford’s Mustangs, SVT did not exist (SVT was started in the early ‘90s) Ford did not want the Mustang SVT Cobra sold along side the Shelby for marketing reasons I guess (I will do more studying) So this car is a blend of both cars (the SVT Cobra and Shelby) |

SVT emblem is not a Cobra, it is just the letters "SVT". They did not put the snake on the SVT Contour or Lightning. |

"SVT’s emblem (the Cobra)" as in the Cobra emblem belongs to SVT. It is seen on older model SVT Mustangs. The emblem is indeed not seen on other SVT products but is special to the Mustang. The Cobra emblem was only applied to the car if it were SVT. -- Last edit: 2008-02-23 05:57:50 |

Actually, I believe the Cobra emblem belongs more to Shelby since it was used at least as early as the 1967 GT350 http://www.shelbyautos.com/galleries/67gt350/67gt35026-1024.jpg whereas Ford's SVT was not formed until 1993. -- Last edit: 2008-02-23 06:21:50 |
