This is not a 26o series Volvo, but a 245 made (in Canada, I believe) for the U.S market. It has the 1980 rear wiev mirrors and 1980 colour. Most likely GL. 260 always had a chromed grill, but 240 GL got it when 760 was introduced in 1982 and 240 thus needed a facelift. |

Please compare with this Link to "www.volvotips.com" 1980 brouchure and this Link to "www.volvotips.com" fom 1981. If it says GLE I suppose that what it is, otherwise I haven't found an exact match anywhere. The GLE should have had a chromed grill, if I understand the brouchures correctly. But I might be wrong. And changes can happen anytime. |

Just GLE ? No number-model name? How come none is listed that way? (it was previously discussed I think...) |

We do have some listed as Volvo DL and GL. -- Last edit: 2014-06-30 18:00:15 |

Some are quite obvious /vehicle.php?id=40938 but the main reason IIRC for not changing was the amount of work needed to sort out the DL/GL/GLE/GLTs from the 24x/26x ones. |

I'm not entirely sure, but if one can believe this site http://www.vlvworld.com/indexframe.html?200/Production.htm (240-series, that is mainly DL, GL and GT) -- it seams impossible to link to the 260 (that is GLE and a few others) home page, but it's just to click on the "VOLVO 260" link highlighted in blue a few inches downwards -- the 240 name disappeared in 1980 and reappeared in 1986. Perhaps the black grill indicates the car is a four cylindre one instead of the V6. Not as strange as it sounds as there were a similar confusion in the Swedish markets as well. -- Last edit: 2014-07-01 15:14:32 |
