The blue one, except the side decals, reminds what was later (at the very begining of serial production) a "mini Metro 1.3 HLS" The first pre-serial cars went on test track in 1978, by what I was able to read once on the other hand this one seems to be already quite developed. ![]() What the plate is saying? -- Last edit: 2014-07-12 01:28:19 |

No result that I can find for EOL768V. ...EDIT: except here http://www.drivearchive.co.uk/vehicledetails.asp?CarID=13041 An early "pre-production" Mini Metro built & registered some months before the car was officially launched in October 1980. This particular car was pictured on TV at the time when the Metro was advertised as "A British Car to beat the World." -- Last edit: 2014-07-12 03:27:26 |

Nor me. It was a Feb/March 80 plate so several months before Oct 80 launch, and I don't think it's a production colour and the side stripes don't look final format. One online reference found on a page for FOH 182V at http://www.drivearchive.co.uk/vehicledetails.asp?CarID=11782: "Notes: This [FOH 182V] was a very early "pre production" model of the new Mini Metro. In only 5 days it covered 5000 miles around Europe when it was driven by Autocar Magazine prior to the Metro's launch in October 1980. Modifications: Before the long trip abroad it was fitted with many extras from the Metro "HLS" model. These included, low profile tyres, brake servo, tinted glass, halogen headlamps, velour seats & head restraints. It also had a map light, fire extinguisher, front fog lights, trip computer & extra petrol tank. Accolades: One of very few "V" Registered Metros ever seen on British Roads. However, also see EOL768V & FOP185V." So a pre-production, spec maybe similar to or a mix of 1.3 S or HLS. |
