The Duster name was a natural, given that the Plymouth Duster was one of the most successful nameplates ever introduced by Chrysler Corporation, at least in its first four years. However, the combination of the curvy Duster rear end with the formal styling of the Volare was less successful than the pairing of the same rear with the Valiant, and sales were not quite as stratospheric, though many were made. Walt Ronk wrote that the Volare with Duster Package was designated as RPO A42. 1980 Duster production for the A42 code cars was a whopping 5568, while Road Runners for 1980 dwindled down to a mere 496 units... -- Last edit: 2014-07-30 19:45:01 |
