I believe Webasto is (or was) one of the major manufacturer of this sliding roof system at the time. Webasto is a German company also making additional petrol powered engine heating systems, which was a neccesity in the north as the air cooled VW engine didn't produce enough heat for cold winter mornings. Edit 1: Forgot to include a link Link to "bringatrailer.com" . Found out there were other competing companies present, like Golde (also Germany and later in the U.S) and Britax (England).
