G-Klasse ? now surely INGO must say something about that dude -- Last edit: 2014-08-21 17:55:38 |

Yes, G-Klasse, but named "Wolf" in Bundeswehr-usage. The dude is a Feldwebel (sergeant), at that time the guard commander of that barracks-area. No beret, so the unit is not identifyable. |

W461 then? (Wikipedia: "The 461 is the military model") |

No, the German Wiki says something different (but it's a bit confusing, I haven't understand the exact definition ) Ah, found at www.motor-talk.de: summary: - W460: old body, 2WD - W461: old body, 4WD - W463: new body Oh, this guy says something different: "The 461 is a basic 460, made for official use, for authorities, organisations, town communities etc.. The W463 was specially made for private customers" About the W462 the Germany Wiki says, that this was only the version, assembled from CKD-kits by ELBO in Greece. Interesting, didn't know that -- Last edit: 2014-08-21 21:01:08 |

W463 is simply the 1990+ updated model of the W460. But it seems they still make the W461 according to Wikipedia... If we can't really differentiate the W461 for the civil versions, maybe it is better to list all models with the W460/W463 codes? (we only have a few as W461 anyway) -- Last edit: 2014-08-22 13:48:54 |

The problem is, that the difference between W460 and W461 shall (except the fact, that the W460 was stopped someday) be the questions "2WD or 4WD" or "better interior or low-spec interior" - even about that there are different opinions except the fact, that these topics aren't visible from outside. Maybe we separate between civil versions with private license plates and the plenty of "for official use"-versions, as military "Wolf"-editions, road maintenance-cars and so on. It would be much easier, if Mercedes Benz would have separated by "military or civil", "cloth or metal roof", "SWB or LWB" or "2dr or 4dr" - but so... |

Hence why I suggest to skip W461 and use only W460 & W463... -- Last edit: 2014-08-25 17:17:19 |

There is no coloured lace visible on the outer edge of the epaulette https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffenfarbe_%28Bundeswehr%29 so it seems to be black, which means it's a Pionier (the guys with the heavy equipment: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pioniertruppe_%28Bundeswehr%29 |

1993+ 250GD 'Wolf' [W461], made for Bundeswehr, so for Germany due to the different motor and interior than for town communities /vehicles_make-Mercedes-Benz_model-250+GD.html https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_(Fahrzeug) -- Last edit: 2019-05-02 16:27:09 |
