Kenworth ? Peterbilt ? White-Freightliner ? Freightliner ? |

Looks to me like a White-Freightliner, but it could be new enough to be a Freightliner. |

Flattened wheel arch, flush door handle on the lower part of the door and recessed step under the door are details of a very late (1975/76?) White-Freighliner WFT or of a a 1976+ Freightliner FLT. No ladder behind the wheel arch could indicate a White-Freightliner model only? Single rear axle, so a WFT-xx42 (or FLT-xx42), xx being the BBC length. The accurate year of the make change is iffy: Freightliner says 1976 in its 1977 annual report, but there were apparently still White-Freightliner models in 1977 (see the placard on the windshield)... I don't know if the main pic has been changed since all the comments have been posted above, but the Freightliner logo is plainly visible now. |

I think this is one of those weird export trucks that were sourced from America in the 1970's/1980's. Essentially what American truck manufacturers would do is sell turned in or unused trucks to foreign countries. However, the companies would either rebadge the truck with newer logos, give the truck a "newer" model year, sometimes both, and would ship them to foreign nations. One of the most infamous examples are "Dina" trucks, which are essentially rebadged Internationals from America. But other companies like White, GM, and of course Navistar would follow this practice. Here's a "1985" GMC Astro in Chile. This design was retired in 1979 in the United States and had not been produced since that model year: So this isn't even a Freightliner FLT. It has a single bar on the grill, and Freightliner FLT models always had two. So this leads me to believe that it's a rebadged version of an older White-Freightliner WFT. Pictures show it with a 63-inch BBC, and a 4x2 drive with a tractor upfit. -> White-Freightliner WFT-6342T -- Last edit: 2023-07-30 08:45:35 |
